%X The SIG´s tools are efficient and effective contribution, not only for a better planning of land use and water in affected areas, but also to assist in decision making on the field of intervention. The use of this technology allows, therefore, a continuous and evolutionary study of a particular situation, integrating different data and transforming them into updated information. In this context, this article looks for to evidence the use of techniques of geoprocess and remote sensing with sights to the elaboration of the environmental Zoning of the hydrography Basin of Taquari river. The cartographic base used to generate the thematic maps was removed of the topographical maps elaborated by the Geographic Service of the Army, in scale 1/250.000. Images of the Landsat satellite had been used to generate the use and covering of the soil. The area the Basin of Taquari river with vegetation is 42% of the landscape, with only 7% area environmental protection.
